Over the years, we have seen Bollywood stars seeking and doing different things to give their career a whole new direction. From starting their own business to investing in companies, these stars are not leaving a stone unturned to make that transition from movies to the business world.
And the latest inclusion in the list of actors-turned-investors is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The former Miss World along with her mother Vrinda KR has made her debut as an angel investor as the duo has invested INR 50 Lakh each in Ambee, a Bengaluru-based environmental intelligence startup. However, this is not the first time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has invested — she has made her first investment in clean technology. And later, Bachchan has also invested in wind power projects in Maharashtra about a decade ago.
Furthermore, along with the mother-daughter duo, other investors such as Rajan Anandan have invested ₹3.22 Cr ($470.8K) in the Bengaluru-based IoT startup. According to a source, over the past few years, Ambee has raised funding from multiple investors. And the last funding that Ambee raised was from Venture Catalysts, Amit Agarwal in December 2018.
Founded by trio Akshay Joshi, Jaideep Singh and Madhusudan Anand in 2017 at an IoT hackathon, at Amazon Development centre in Bangalore, Ambee leverages the superpowers of data and analytics and provides hyperlocal air quality data to developers, consumers, health researchers and media companies in order to help them make informed decisions or take preventive measures during severe environmental distress. Also, it has the largest and most accurate air quality data in Asia.
